My Other Blog

So I've started another blog.  Follow along as I work on a project that may keep busy for a few years.

I used to tell Marti that I wanted to retire when I was fifty (you can retire at any age, it's just a question of the lifestyle and standard of living that you want to maintain). I think the prospect of having me home all day everyday made her nervous, so one day she asked, "And just exactly what are you going to do?" Well, now we know. But if I'm going to do these kind of things, there will be no retiring at 50.

Am I at Church?

We went the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo last night. They always follow the rodeo with a concert and Kenny Chesney was the performer. For awhile during the concert I thought I might be at church, because there were so many people going in and out of the stands.

Everything I Ever Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten, Including Wrestling

Every once in a while Matthew or Jacob feel like they want to challenge the old man. What they don't realize is that everything I ever needed to know about wrestling, I learned while in kindergarten from my brother. I was always "wrestling up a few weight classes" like they are now. Hopefully by the time they get close to my weight class, they'll be past the need to challenge the Alpha male. If not, I guess the Alpha male can always just withhold their inheritance.

My brother use to show me how to perform the cradle move all the time. Usually I was the victim, I mean wrestler in training.

Not This Please!

I assume it's just a coincidence, but this is what two items showed up consecutively on my Facebook news feed.

New Project Benches

I have a few projects in mind so I spent the afternoon turning this stack of lumber into two sturdy workbenches. When Marti saw the stack of lumber she said, "What are planning to do, frame a house?" As it turns out, I knew I would have enough plywood/panel material to build 2 workbenches, so I doubled the recipe for the other materials. As I was buying them I was thinking, man that's a lot of 2x4's. After I got home and started working, I realized the plans had already included the materials for the second workbench. Needless to say there are a few 2x4's left over, but it's probably easier to build more stuff than to try and return the extra lumber. Hmmm....

Sammie's thinking, "Would you just give up this nonsense and throw my football for me."
